Odometry disappears into the cluster as a stored value
Digital instrument clusters now account for 88% of new vehicle fitment, and within them distance travelled is simply a value written to memory and mirrored across several control units for cross-checking. There is no discrete odometer to source, specify or replace, which means the component market has dissolved into cluster electronics entirely. Commercially this leaves suppliers selling display and computing content rather than measurement, and any analysis treating odometry as a standalone hardware category is measuring an artefact that stopped existing across most of the vehicle parc. Suppliers now sell display and computing content instead.
